The brief was to design a book centered around a specific artist, using design to reflect their work and personality. I was assigned Nick Cave, known for his bold and expressive Soundsuits made from unexpected materials like fur, buttons, and branches.

This project gave me the chance to work closely with a creative professional to design both the book cover and the page layout. Inspired by Cave’s unique aesthetic, I explored his work through in-depth research. His vibrant and layered style guided my design choices, including the selection of typefaces and visual structure. One key feature was the spine design, which extends into the back cover and adds a bold and unexpected twist.
The biggest challenge was translating the energy and complexity of Cave’s Soundsuits into a clean and readable design. Balancing visual expression with clarity pushed me to refine every element. It was a rewarding challenge that taught me how to adapt a strong artistic identity into a functional design format.
